Wonder where on earth I can find a book for the beginning very basic of most basic wire wrapping. Now making a wire wrap link is basic. Not one word.
There is NOTHING at all basic about this book. If you want to make fancy jewelry, this is the book, should be called FANCY wirewrapping with ADVANCED techniques. Bought this book because the word BASIC is in the title.
Not one word about how to actually make even a wire link for a necklace or bracelet. Anyone know.I just wasted about 30$ on this advanced book. It starts right off for the first instruction to make pendants.
Not one word about basic wire wrapping.
I would definately recommend this book to anyone - a fantastic must have for anyones wirework library. I had no trouble following the instructions and pictures. While this book is a bit more pricey I am so very glad I got it. I have been working with square wire making bracelets and wanted to branch out into making pendants with cabochons - this book walks you through measuring the correct lengths of wire, gives good basic knowledge about wire, tools etc, and the authors humor and wit make it less methodical than some books I have seen.
Great color photos of finished products are very nice. I have worked in metals so I was clear on the concept. I purchased several books before I began to wire wrap. Jim's practical attitude and instruction is incredibly helpful.I would like, in his next edition, he go into more detail on annealing and step by step finishing of the metal. But I think newbies could use that help.Overall the best of the books that I have gotten. This book is the one that I refer to most. Yes, much of the instruction is in black and white but If you need color, get over it.
Would highly recommend this book for anyone who wants to learn the basics of wire wrapping. Very clear and detailed instructions along with some humor thrown in - only wish the illustrations were in color.
I have never been disappointed with any of my purchases. It arrived in great condition, as all the books I have bought through Amazon.com have been. I saw this book in our library & had to get it. It has so many great close up pictures illustrating many techniques.
